It’s 2:30 AM. I got into bed at one, put my phone down, closed my eyes, and my brain started thinking on its own. The more it thought, the more awake I got. Still not asleep. So I got up to write. My MacBook Pro is almost five years old, and its keyboard had become hard to look at. The keycaps were shiny with oil, the gaps were packed with dust, you could faintly see hairs under a few of them, and a couple of caps had actually cracked. Why block updates at all After macOS 26 came out, the update nag kept popping up every few days. I kept worrying I’d slip and hit “Update Now”, confirmation or not.
